Are you currently taking orders for breast milk or other precious inclusion keepsake pieces? - Yes! We are constantly adding more listings to the shop and we are taking orders for listed items as well as special custom requests. If you don’t see a style you’d like in the shop, you can send us an email through the form at the bottom of this page to get started or ask additional questions!
Can I order even if I’m not local to Magpie & Co Designs? - Absolutely. Most inclusions are already dried or preserved and can be sent through the mail easily. Breast milk ships beautifully and will maintain its integrity (without needing to be kept cool) until it arrives to us for preservation. Once you’ve begun the ordering process, We’ll send you an address you can ship your milk to. Our only request is that you don’t send the very last of anything through the postal service - they do an excellent job, however accidents and missing packages can happen and we would hate for your inclusions to be lost forever. It’s best to send only part of what you have, just in case. (You’ll receive an email regarding specific mailing instructions once you initiate an order).
What can be made into a keepsake piece? - Inclusions can include (but are not limited to) breast milk, hair, human or animal cremation ashes, and umbilical cord powder or preserved placenta powder.
How much milk do I need for a breast milk stone? - Only 5 to 10 mL is needed to preserve a stone - that means we need less than a single Tablespoon worth of milk. If you are coming up slightly shy of that volume please email me, but chances are high that we can still make a stone even with slightly less volume.
How much cremation ash do you need to create a piece? - Only approximately 1/4 tsp is needed to create a stone. What isn’t used during the creation process will be returned with your completed piece unless you specify that you’d like it kept here on file in case you’d like additional pieces made.
Are there options for what type of jewelry I can order and what the stone can look like? - Rings, necklaces, cuffs and earrings are available to order, however other special requests may also be available. Stones can be created with white shimmer, rose or gold colored shimmer, opalescent or gold flakes, and more. You’ll have the option to specify whatever additions you’d like added during your shopping. Please be aware each stone will have it’s own unique, one of a kind look when complete as each stone is made by hand in our studio.
What happens with the leftover milk? - Remnant preserved milk will be kept here at Magpie & Co Designs in case you ever wish to place another order. Please email using the contact tab at the top of the page to inquire on the remainder of your milk prior to placing another order as you may be eligible to receive a 20% off discount code!
What’s the pricing and time-frame for arrival of my order? - Creating a custom, keepsake piece takes extensive training and care and is a lengthy and time consuming process. Once your precious inclusions and custom ordered jewelry findings arrive, the process to create the piece itself takes several days. Pieces are completed in the order in which their materials arrive and you should expect roughly 8 weeks from time of order to time of receiving your finished piece, although it’s likely your order may be complete and returned to you much sooner. Some items have a much quicker turnaround time as things like pendant pieces may be in stock here already, while other pieces like hand-made to order rings (based on your custom ring size) will take longer. Each listing with a longer turnaround time has a note about this in its description.
